Who I Am

I’m a designer, builder, and entrepreneur — someone who believes that good ideas deserve thoughtful execution, whether they’re digital products or burritos wrapped in gold foil.

My background spans product design, visual storytelling, and brand building. I’ve designed at companies like Chegg and Nextdoor, consulted for startups and legacy businesses alike, and co-founded a restaurant from scratch during the pandemic.

I don’t just design for screens. I design for systems — for businesses, for people, and for outcomes.

I got my first job in high school at In-N-Out. That’s where I learned what makes an experience stick — consistency, hospitality, and the importance of systems.

Years later, I found myself helping a roommate launch an entertainment company. He needed branding, flyers, and a website — I had no formal design training, but I figured it out. That project lit the fire that led me back to school.

While in community college, I designed for businesses and nonprofits, Oilchangers was one of my biggest clients for whom I created a business intelligence dashboard and designed their customer rewards platform. I eventually landed a paid internship at the Center for Race & Gender at UC Berkeley as Product Designer, where I also majored in majored in Economics and Near Eastern Studies.

Since then, I’ve:
- Helped build an AI-driven recruiting startup (Cardinal Hire)
- Designed the first comprehensive immigration timeline platform at Bridge (acquired by Boundless)
- Launched a restaurant during COVID (Afghan Burrito, now one of Berkeley’s fastest-growing concepts)
- Led product design at Chegg and Nextdoor.

I’ve worn a lot of hats — and each one has made me a more thoughtful designer and founder. I’m driven by craft, systems thinking, and the desire to build things that matter.

A Journey Into
Building, Crafting, and Creating

My creative practice spans many forms — from designing platforms that support millions of users to crafting branding systems that shape culture in real life. Whether I’m working on a product, a restaurant, or a new venture, I bring the same lens to every problem:
→ What do people need? → What story are we telling? → What experience will they remember?
2024
Nextdoor
At Nextdoor, I designed monetization experiences that balanced business growth with community trust. My work spanned search ads, Thumbtack integrations, and generative AI tools within the Ads Manager. I led explorations that turned service-related neighbor posts into actionable search experiences, creating new revenue streams while maintaining user value. I also designed boosting flows and partnered with cross-functional teams to ensure measurable impact through increased ad adoption, CTR, and revenue growth.
2021
Chegg
At Chegg, I drove the design of next-generation academic tools by integrating AI and multi-turn chat into the student learning experience. I reimagined flagship features like Search and Post a Question, elevating them with conversational AI and streamlined UX. I also led the creation of an AI-powered writing assistant for grammar and clarity, balancing user trust with business needs. In addition, I uplifted Chegg’s design system and visual identity, ensuring consistency and clarity across the product ecosystem.
2020
Afghan Burrito
I co-founded Afghan Burrito, a fast-growing restaurant blending Afghan-inspired marinades and flavors with Mission-style Mexican cuisine. Known for our Golden Burrito wrapped in gold foil, we grew from a pandemic pop-up into a Berkeley staple generating $1M in 2024 revenue with 50% YoY growth. Beyond brand and menu development, I scaled operations to a 12-person team, investing in staff training and growth (including paying for English classes to improve customer service). Afghan Burrito now anchors the Cal Food Garden, and we’re expanding through bottled sauces, new concepts like Karak Bros, and a second location.
2019
Boundless Immigration
As part of Boundless Immigration’s product team, I designed solutions that transformed the traditionally inefficient and reactive immigration process into a modern, digital-first experience. I shaped workflows for both applicants and attorneys, reducing friction and improving transparency in complex legal journeys. My work built upon my role at Bridge Immigration, where I was the founding designer and laid the foundation for the product that helped pave the way for acquisition.
2018
Cardinal Hire
I was the founding designer at Cardinal Hire, an AI-driven recruitment startup. I designed the first mobile experience that allowed job seekers and recruiters to swipe on opportunities and talent, making hiring as intuitive as a dating app. I owned the full design process from concept to launch, crafting flows, prototypes, and visual identity while collaborating closely with engineering and business teams to validate with real users.
2016
Center of Race & Gender
At UC Berkeley, I designed and deployed the center’s first digital collaboration platform, enabling academics and policymakers to share research and data. This platform allowed for greater impact by translating academic findings into accessible, actionable insights for policy. It was my first opportunity to connect design with social impact, a thread that has carried through my career.
2017
University of California, Berkeley
Major in Economics (BS) and Near Eastern Studies (BA)
